This week we have been reading the Enormous Turnip and completed lots of related activities. Along with this story and root vegetable oil pastel work, we have discovered fairy houses on the school grounds! This led to lots of fairy activities including making fairy dens, fairy wands, spells, paintings and lego fairy houses.
WC 1.6.20: Hedgehogs return
This week we have been reading Jack and the Beanstalk and have been very busy. From creating story maps, measuring giants' feet and retelling the story! We have also spent lots of time outside creating nature weaves and even took part in the YV singing challenge!

Outdoor maths 22.1.20 where children worked together to solve a variety of problems
In our classroom we have a fantastic space-related sensory area which allows the children to explore different textures to play with. Here are some children working and playing together gathering scientific samples and discovering the changing textures.
The hedgehogs have been training how to be an astronaut this week. They had 5 stations and had to count how many exercises their friend did!

The children performed their nativity in the church for the first time.
Children joined in with the Remembrance service and activities throughout the day.

Room on the Broom
The hedgehogs got into their guided reading groups and acted out the story using a lovely pink broom! The characters did their parts very well with some children even remembering the words without needing them being prompted.
The dragon was quite scary, but our actors and narrators – who helped to finish off the rhyme in the sentence – were not afraid!
