Art
The Art and Design curriculum at Nafferton Primary School has been created to engage, inspire and challenge children throughout each year group. We work on a two year cycle and in each term the children will learn not only the skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design but will also learn about famous and inspiring artisits, sculptures and designers. Within each year group the children will explore drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and printing. At the end of each key stage the children will have been taught skills within each of these areas which will enable them to progress in their creativity and develop these skills further as they move on through the school. Each child has their own sketch book which will follow them through the school. Within this book it is clear to see the progression the children make from the Foundation stage up to Year 6. We encourage the children to look at their own work and the work of others and discuss their thoughts and ideas. They learn to have opinions on art work and annotate their own work. Children’s art work is displayed around school for everyone to enjoy.
