Year 2

Good morning Naffertonians!

Here we are again… Years 5 and 6 this will be more familiar to you than the rest of the school but, it’s still very strange. Rest assured everyone at Nafferton School is here to support you in this difficult time. Teams is very simple to get your head around though it does take some time. Years 3,4,5 and 6 have had practise already. Foundation, Year 1 and 2 you’ll be learning as you go. Remember to keep smiling and be kind to one another – we’re all in the same boat and have your best interests at heart.

Between 9:00 and 9:30 every morning will be time for exercise, this could be Joe Wicks, BBC Super Movers or some of your own activities. Get creative!

From 9:30, there will be an adult available to answer any work related questions or queries. It is very difficult to follow when there are lots of people posting so please don’t reply to each other – even if you know the answer to the question. During the Year 5/6 bubble closure we experienced a lot of silliness in the teams, this is something which will not be tolerated. Mr Johnson is able to look at everything you post, as are the adults at home. Please be mindful of what you post and remember once you have pressed send it is out there for everyone to see. Remember that your teachers may be dealing with another child’s problem or an issue with their own children at home so please don’t keep asking (unless it’s been a good while and you think your comment may have been missed).

The best way to get the attention of the member of staff looking after your team is to type the @ symbol followed by their name e.g @MrMeade would tag Mr Meade @MissWhelan would tag Miss Whelan. When you tag a member of staff they receive a notification on their device which tells them they’ve been mentioned in a comment. This will allow them to navigate straight to your question.

At the end of each day, between 2:15 and 2:30 there will be chance for you to talk to your friends and teachers in our circle time session.

It’s massively important that you spend time away from the screen throughout the day. The work that you’re being asked to do will not need you to be attached to your device throughout the day. Teams is there for you when you need assistance. If you spend the whole day on your device your eyes and brain won’t be very happy. Equally as important, is getting some fresh air. If you have an outdoor space, make sure you spend some time there – weather dependent obviously.

From Year 2 upwards, the timetable for each day will be as follows:

Any resources that you need for the online learning will be on the school website as well as on Teams. From the website homepage roll your mouse over Home, then navigate to Home Learning and then find your phase Foundation Y1, Y2, Y3/4 or Y5/6. You’ll also find links to the Wake and Shake videos in this section.

Finally, don’t forget to send us photographs of your lockdown activities, email them to the school email address. Also, remember (if you’re able to) to upload your work to the class team. Your teachers may give you more detailed instructions about where they would like you to save your work.

Stay safe and take care,
